Helping to create a space you want to be in
I first started making soaps and wax based products when I was in university to help supplement the loans and give me some extra money. I enjoyed the process of combining all of the ingredients and seeing what the end result was, not to mention it meant my house always smelt wonderful!
Fast forward 10 years and Fawn Fragrances was born. Now a mum to 2 littles (one just about to join the world in fact) I crave the flexibility that running your own business provides to give me the family life that I always envisaged for myself.
I've repeatedly come back to bath, body and home fragrance products over the years as my niche for 2 main reasons:
1. I suffer from chronically dry skin to the point where normal skincare and wash products leave it dry and sore and cracking from regular use. It's refreshing when I can make something gentle enough that soothes instead of aggravates my skin and that is something I want to share with others who may be in the same position as me.
2. My home is my safe space and with the chaos of family life it can be difficult to create a space which is calming and refreshing. Being able to add even a little touch of something 'me' to a space gives me back the control over how my home feels. I feel it is so important to have that safe space for your mental health and this is why I branched into home fragrance. Sometimes when I get an hour or 2 alone I just light a candle or a melt, do a little cleaning, and then just sit and enjoy a coffee and enjoy what I've made.
The above is one of the reasons why so much research goes into the ingredients I use in all of my creations. We can see the world around us changing so drastically and I try to support the smaller local businesses wherever possible when sourcing ingredients as I do feel it is important.
I am lucky to have a wonderfully supportive partner who gives me a cheer for every sale I make (and joins in my own personal happy dance too) and has my back when things are a little slow. And a daughter who, although just primary age, loves getting stuck in to help out with making batches of soaps and wax melts, weighing out ingredients and handing me equipment. And then there is the cat - who just looks at me with disdain whenever I make yet another thing she is not allowed to go near!
This is my family business, this is my dream, and this is my motivation everyday when I get up in the morning.
Welcome to Fawn Fragrances :)
